The College Of Business Administration
The College of Business Administration was established under the Emiri Decree No. 164 of the year 1995. The programs of the College of Business Administration began in the first semester of the academic year 1996/1995, replacing the College of Commerce, Economics, and Political Science at Kuwait University.
The College of Business Administration, through its academic programs, endeavors to build a broad, balanced, and comprehensive background in the administrative knowledge and skills of graduates to primarily contribute to the development of administrative capacities in the institutions of the private sector, where the students’ skills in dealing in English and using computer and their analytical and quantitative abilities are strengthened. Furthermore, the college is keen to consolidate the ethical values that are required in the practical application of administrative practices.
At the beginning of the academic year 1998/1999, the college has started to offer a master’s degree in business administration (MBA program) that aims to develop leadership knowledge and skills of graduates as decision-makers at the middle and senior management level in the various institutions in Kuwait. The program is taught in English. It is offered according to the applicable rules of the College of Graduate Studies at Kuwait University.
In April 2005, the college crowned its scientific journey by receiving the international academic accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for its bachelor and master programs. The college received an official certificate of its academic accreditation during an official ceremony held in the annual conference of AACSB that took place from 21 to 23 of April 2005 in San Francisco, USA. Recently, the international academic accreditation of the college’s programs has been renewed for the next five years, which requires continuing the development of the college’s programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels with the efforts of the existing scientific committees and the Academic Quality Assurance Unit and Accreditation.
In the field of graduate studies, the college offers master programs in business administration (MBA), accounting, and economics. In addition to that, it provides a higher diploma program in public administration and a higher diploma program in Islamic finance, in conjunction with the College of Shari’a and Islamic Studies, which constitutes an effective course in the field of graduate studies at the college. This, in turn, will add a new dimension to reinforce the prominent academic position of the College of Business Administration at Kuwait University, playing its constructive role in participating in the process of achieving inclusive development in the country. The college continues its efforts to activate the quality of education and advance towards the constant development of the curriculum, methods, and means of teaching,at the college level, according to the recommendations of the international Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), ensuring their adoption and application. Therefore, the college maintains its academic position among the international accredited universities through its technological and scientific orientation and in light of the steps taken towards transforming it to a scientific college to keep up with the Kuwaiti Vision of 2035,which starts from the knowledge economy and the optimal use of technological development in the fields of economy, business administration, and digital transformation that requires curriculum development to achieve the desired goal.
